Evidence-based therapy refers to therapeutic approaches supported by rigorous research and supported to be effective in treating specific mental health conditions.
These therapies are the gold standard of treatment because research consistently supports their ability to reduce symptoms and improve mental health outcomes.

The first session is an intake session, which differs from a typical therapy session. We begin the session by going over confidentiality and my practice policies.
During this session, we will dive deep into your unique experiences, and I will get to know you better as we start building your personalized treatment plan. There is no need to worry about doing therapy right—this is your time to share what is on your mind at your own pace.
We will review your background, including your symptoms, mental health history, and therapy goals. I will also take notes as we discuss what strategies have worked for you in the past and what challenges you face in managing your symptoms.
I typically spend 2-3 sessions to fully understand your experiences and work together on a treatment plan. During these sessions, I will also provide education about emotions and how they are impacting you. We will also explore the factors that may be contributing to your stress and anxiety symptoms, and I will provide information about various treatment options tailored to your needs.
After the intake process, I may determine that I am not the best fit for your therapy needs. If so, I will immediately discuss alternative options with you. The intake is also a time for you to have agency over your care—if you feel I am not the right fit for you, please let me know, and I will help you find someone who is.

It is expected to feel anxiety or stress in between sessions, especially early in treatment.
Remember, the goal of therapy is not to get rid of your emotions, but to learn how to sit with the discomfort and live your best life anyway.
Be gentle with yourself—progress takes time and is not linear. When the skills are more difficult to use, we can use this valuable data to refine how and when to use the therapy skills more effectively. Keep track of when it is easier or harder to use the skills so we can refine them in your next session.
-
I generally recommend weekly sessions at the start of therapy to build momentum. As progress is made and your symptoms become more manageable, we can discuss whether sessions might be better every other week.
-
The length of therapy varies depending on your unique needs. Most clients start seeing symptom improvement after about six sessions.
For more straightforward goals, treatment may last between 3 to 12 sessions.
More complex challenges may require 3 to 6 months or longer to address.
We will continue to work together as a team to map out your specific needs and make adjustments in treatment length based on your needs.
Sometimes, as clients make progress and achieve their initial goals, they choose to set new goals and continue the therapeutic process. This can extend the length of treatment and reflect ongoing personal growth and evolving needs.

Currently, I only offer telehealth services. While we will meet virtually, I aim to make our sessions as personal and engaging as if we were meeting in person. Together, we will create a supportive and open environment where you feel heard and comfortable no matter where you are.
All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. I protect your personal information extensively and ask that you provide reliable internet access and a private, confidential space for our sessions.

While I exclusively offer telehealth services, research shows that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for many individuals. However, when deciding if virtual care is best for you, consider whether you have a private, secure session space and reliable internet access.
Telehealth offers benefits such as reducing travel time and cost and increasing flexibility, allowing you to access care from the comfort of your preferred space. However, in-person care may be more appropriate for crisis management or more intensive treatment.
